Des Walsh has written a great post on the importance of seeing the skills that you gain from being a blogger as being transferable in the business world.
He also stressed that there is more to blogging than just writing. It’s about the stats, it’s about being able to respond intelligently to comments, even the critical ones. It’s about social networking.
Having been asked to digg this, I finally have a clearer understanding of how Digg works. Des asked for the link of where I had dugg his post and I didn’t have a clue. I clicked on the more button and voila! Here is that link. The advantage of that is that you give people the actual link. It makes it so much easier for them to digg your post.
I think that social networking is great and I am wondering, as each day only has 24 hours in it, how do I respond and effectively participate in all these wonderful social networks? Each week brings another new one or two onto my radar.
If anyone has a brilliant solution please comment below.
Suz,
I do not know anything about digg yet (in fact my plugin for digg isn’t working properly 🙁
I also do not know how to send a pingback & haven’t set up my RSS Feed thing/button yet.
Even though we don’t know everything, we are really growing. Thanks for this post. I feel it is crucial to treat our blogs as a business and recognize the importance of traffic stats, effectiveness of traffic tactics, and the effectiveness of our sales techniques.
Keep up the great work!
Jes
