The assignment for day 2 of 10 Days to a better blog is to join one community and post an introduction to that group or create your online profile.

As I have been spending a lot of time building my social networks online I thought this would be a good day to take stock of the communities I have joined and just see how up to date my information is and see what was happening in those communities.

First I thought I would look at what I have joined. Wow I didn’t realize I had joined so many groups and yes all have a profile and a photo on them. I now need to make sure I am singing the same song on all of them as I notice many familiar smiling faces on the various groups.

I also need to focus on what are the most appropriate ones for my niche. I might not be able to keep up with all the communities I have signed up for. Here are some of the communities I have joined.

MY BLOG LOG – The widget sits on the side panel of my blog and I love looking each morning to see who has revisited and what new faces there are.

Yesterday when I checked my email folder, I found that I had about 40 emails sitting in this my inbox of people who had added me as a contact or left a message. Dealing with this I discovered takes more then a few minutes when you have let it build up, I will now allocate time now each day directly from within My Blog Log page.

LinkedIn which is a way to manage your professional network and there are many LinkedIn related groups on Yahoo Groups which you can join. I have just joined LinkedIn Bloggers where Des Walsh, my partner, is the founding moderator.

My Space: I have two identities there and not sure whether this is an appropriate network for this blog. This enables you to have your own blog, with the limitations of their design and parameters.

Zaadz – a community about people who want to make a difference that I am still exploring.

BlogHer– where the women Bloggers are. This is a great network , has a conference where Wendy Piersall is a speaker and I will be attending through……Second Life– I joined second life last week so I can attend the virtual Blogher July Conference .

Pownce- Des sent me an invitation yesterday to this, You can read about it on Thinking Home Business. I have 6 invitations if you would like one leave a request in the comments section.

Blogging to Fame– just click on the widget at the top of the page to find out more.

Stumbleupon: Connect with friends and share your discoveries, meet people that have similar interests, and check out what other people are discovering. I think this is one where I will put more time into.

Facebook and when I clear out some email, I may find a few more. That’s besides Delicious, Digg and more

This has now taken more time than I had allocated, but has been a very worthwhile exercise
