I'd have gone with him, but he didn't ask me, in fact was clear he wants to go alone. I'm fighting feelings of worthlessness, abandonment, rejection. I think when he sees me he is just reminded of responsibilities, and he has become overwhelmed with responsibilities--mostly of his own making, but he doesn't think about that. I could really use some validation. I have an Al-Anon meeting in 45 minutes, and I'm going to sing with a choir for late Christmas Eve mass (though I'm not Catholic, I just want to sing). Beyond tomorrow, when I'll have Christmas dinner with other Al-Anon singles, there's just a huge chasm of loneliness that I have to fill with something. I'm prone to depression and it would be really easy to just sink into it, with nobody around to nudge me, expect anything of me. Well, there are two dogs. But the problem is that people get so caught up in being busy and doing things for other that they forget about themselves. This is a great post.
